New UK Food Factory future proofing it‘s wastewater requirements

A manufacturer of sauces uses a DAF plant solution from EnviroChemie to treat it’s wastewater prior to discharge, allowing them to remain within consent and minimise costs.

McCormick was building a new Factory in Peterborough to manufacture a range of sauces and ingredients. The facility is state of the art and capable of future expansion to produce higher quantities of products. A cost effective solution was required to treat the wastewater prior to discharge, to ensure that new consent limts were met. There was also a need for a solution that could treat the requirement now and meet future growth demands as the production facilities grow.

Solution

EnviroChemie designed and installed a Flomar® DAF plant, to remove FOG and Suspended Solids from the wastewater and ensure final discharge within the new consent limits. The solution incorporates a drum screen, balance tank and sludge tank. The DAF plant, chemical dosing and control systems are housed in a process building.

This plant treats up to 400m3 per day initially but is capable of meeting the future requirments of 1150 m3 per day without modification either as a stand alone plant or part of a new biological treatment system.

The plant is looked after on a day to day basis by site operators with EnviroChemie providing process support visits on a monthly basis and telephone support.

Benefits

The treated water quality is within trade effluent consent limits, which means the customer can discharge to sewer with manageable disposal costs.
