In order to sterilize infective effluents, such as those from food/veterinary test laboratories and pharmaceutical industries, it is necessary to maintain a temperature of 134°C for 30 minutes in the effluent. Energy supplied either by hot steam or electrical heating.
 After finishing the sterilization step the effluent is allowed to cool to approx. 35 °C for sewer discharge. A special heat recuperation system saves valuable energy and enables a cost-efficient operation.
