Treatment of radioactive waste water - Robert Bosch Hospital
The radioactive waste water from the nuclear medicine therapy department of the hospital is stored in a buffer tank until it meets regulations for radioactive matter. The layout of the plant was tailored to daily waste water requirements and yearly activity.
These water-saving processes are used to reduce radioactive waste water:
- special vacuum toilets were installed
- the water in showers and bathroom sinks is collected, disinfected and used again in toilets
- the observation of daily use of drinking water in patients' rooms is fully automated. If the predefined limit is overdrawn, the shower of that room is disabled and a visual and acoustic signal is set off at the nurses' station. Shutting off the signal reactivates the shower.
