The Nivea brand from Beiersdorf is very popular in Brazil and the country is one of the largest cosmetic markets in the world. This is why in 2002 Beiersdorf built a new production site in Itatiba, about 1 ½ hours by car from São Paulo.
 
EnviroChemie was commissioned to construct the new waste water treatment plant for the site. The concept is based on modules, meaning the plant can be adjusted to higher quantities of waste water as the production site expands.
 
Fats and oils for the production process are separated from the waste water in a grease separater. Following an intermediate buffer, the waste water is treated biologically in a Biomar® plant with its own sedimentation tank. The quality of the resulting water is higher than official requirements.
