The airport company FRAPORT washes about 1,600 rental cars per month, the water costs are quite significant.  In the middle of 2001, Fraport installed a biological recycling system to reduce their water usage by two thirds and it is needless to say still in use.  In the recycling system of the compact plant Split-O-Mat® BIO microorganisms decompose the organic contents of the waste water.  A sludge trap, oil separator and sieve and filter system carry out the physical pretreatment, leaving losses only carryover and evaporation.  This has conserved more than 800m³ per year.
