The element bromine is extracted by expandable process steps out of the high salt content of the dead sea and manufactured into intermediates. Due to these production steps contaminated waste water arises. Before dumping the waste water into the biological treatment plant, a pre-treatment is necessary.
The treatment plant is designed for a flow rate of 150 m³/h. The water is treated by the following procedure steps:

• coarse screening for the removal of solids > 8 mm
• separation of heavy and light solvents
• two-step flow neutralization
• flocculation Envochem® COL
• sedimentation of suspended solids
• dehydration of suspended solids
• treatment of the drawing-off air out of the various tanks
