Acid-Retardation for an anodisation process

Coil, Bernburg,  Germany

Envochem® Acid Purification Unit (APU)

After relative pre-handling from the surface of alum-band it will be anodised with sulfuric acid. According to keep high efficientcy within this anodising process, the bath consumption has to be stabilized. This target could be met by separating alum sulphate originated from the process out of the bath by continuous exchanging the acid or by acid regeneration.
Central unit of the acid regeneration are special ion exchanging resins. For this very special application sulphuric acid will be attached to the resin while alum salts are mainly passing the filter.
After fully load from the resins with sulphuric acid, it passes the filter with a special delay in time (retarded).
At this moment the ion exchanging filter will be taken out of operation to start regeneration. During this regeneration the sulphuric acid will be washed out of the resins and could be lead back to the anodising process bath.
Running the anodising bath in this way, the lifetime of the acid bath increases and so the operating costs are lowered. In main cases the invest for such a plant returns within on year.
